Dear Families and Caregivers,
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! I am Ms. Forster, and I will be the homeroom teacher for this Grade 2 class. This is my 20th year of teaching in York Region. Over the years, I have worked with students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 as a Special Education Resource Teacher, a homeroom teacher, and a physical education teacher. I am delighted to have the opportunity to teach your child this year.
This year, your child will gain knowledge and skills based on the Grade 2 curriculum. Additionally, we will focus on further developing their critical thinking, problem-solving, innovation, collaboration, and communication skills, among others. Your child will have opportunities to apply these skills across various curriculum areas through hands-on learning activities, inquiry-based projects, solving real-life problems using the design process, and collaborating with classmates.
Another important focus for our classroom will be fostering the overall well-being of your child (physical, emotional, mental, and social). For a child to thrive in their learning environment, they must feel happy, safe, and a sense of belonging within their classroom and school community. As a class, we will work together to create an inclusive environment and ensure this happens.
I will be using a blog (msforsterlearninghub@blogspot.com) to communicate with families and caregivers about informational pieces, such as upcoming learning, due dates, and events. It is important to me that we work together to best support your child's learning. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me through Edsby, and we will schedule a phone call or meeting.
I look forward to getting to know your child, working with them and you throughout the school year.
Sincerely,
Ms. Forster
